Who are we?

Schools with all the odds stacked against them can become functional, healthy schools – and good schools can become great schools. And a systematic, sustained, multi-tiered and professional coaching intervention is one way to achieve this. This is the belief that led a group of coaches and educators to establish Dinaledi Educational Coaching (DEC) as a Section 21 Company (now a Non Profit Company) in 2007. From the outset DEC joined forces with the Department of Education to launch interventions in selected schools, all high schools situated in needy, disadvantaged areas. The programme has been co-designed with the local Educational District in which we began working. Simultaneously, we also began working in other schools in the suburbs that recognized the strategic and capacity-building value of coaching.
