About Us

Keagile Wellness Development Centre (KWDC) is a Non-Profit Organisation run by qualified HPCSA registered mental health practitioners. As an organisation we predominantly focus on the psychological well-being and empowerment of individuals and communities, as well as social and youth development.

As a pioneering NPO we are solely dedicated to the upliftment and empowerment of in-school and out-of school youth, particularly those who are vulnerable and come from marginalized communities. Our mission is that of improving the lives of the country’s youth with the desire to improve Africa as a whole.

In fulfilling our mission, KWDC provides numerous developmental and solution-driven programs to transform the lives of young people in Gauteng. Central to its activities is skills development, career guidance and a compelling wellness programme/psycho-education and training aimed at improving the well-being of communities particularly the youth and women.

Keagile Wellness Development Centre aims to be the most operative and dynamic NPO in accomplishing its mission and thereby playing a significant role in the country’s development sector. Our services are however, not limited to schools only as they are made accessible to other Community- Based Organizations in Tshwane.

AIM

MISSION

  • To serve humanity through the provision of preventative, developmental counseling services and interventions.
  • Making mental health care services accessible to those vulnerable individuals who come from historically disadvantaged communities.
  • Strengthening the capacity of individuals, families, communities and organisations to address mental health needs through Psycho-education and training and the promotion of primary psycho-social well-being.
  • Provide services and supports that maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience and support the recovery and/ or identification of mental illness by making referrals to appropriate professionals or other appropriate resources.

Winnie Makhwanya is 26 years old. She is the Founder of the Keagile Wellness Development Centre (KWDC) North of Tshwane; a non-profit organisation (NPO) run by four Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) registered counselors.

KWDC predominantly focus on the psychological well-being and empowerment of individuals and communities, as well as social and youth development. Winnie makes psychological services accessible to the diverse South African population and provides psychological and preventative interventions that focus on supporting and promoting the enhancement of well-being in community contexts for individuals, families, groups and communities. Her primary function is to prevent, promote, and intervene on any threats on the well-being of individuals. As a pioneering NPO, they are solely dedicated to the empowerment of youth, particularly those who are vulnerable and come from historically disadvantaged communities Influenced by her own experiences, Winnie has a strong passion for youth development, social development and empowering others, and she aims to play an influential role in South Africa. Winnnie completed her honors degree in BA Psychology at the Midrand Graduate Institute and is a Psychology Practitioner registered with the HPCSA.

Our Services

Promotion of Primary Psycho-social Well-being

Wellness programs are provided for individuals, communities and other organizations including schools. These wellness programs target social issues at hand and promote psycho-social well-being which entails the following:

Counseling/Therapy

  • Trauma counseling/ Victim empowerment
  • Group Counseling

Psycho-education

  • Psycho education offers way for the best psychological interventions to

empower and assist individuals as well as communities with difficulties

Youth Development

Empowerment, support and training in self-development is provided to
individuals to assist them in reaching their optimal potential:

  • Learner Career Guidance workshops;
  • KWDC Youth Wellness Programme

Community work/support

  • We develop and implement community based intervention as well as

collaborate with other community-based organization in developing
interventions aimed at the eradication of social-ills within various at risk
communities.
