1.      CHESSKIDS  ACADEMY

Since 2008 the Chesskids Academy (“Chesskids”) has introduced over 40,000 primary school learners in underprivileged communities to the remarkable game of chess.

The Chesskids programme is a fun, interactive, low tech Chess curriculum ideally suited for easy application in South African settings. Participants are taken through a structured chess curriculum with test papers and a detailed per lesson teacher advice.

Our vision is for every South African child to learn chess through this programme and that Chess will become:  Every Child’s Second Game and Every Child’s First Skill”

a.      IN SCHOOL CHESS.

Linked to the primary school curriculum during teaching (contact) time, the in-class programme aims for mass participation by all learners at Grade 6 level. Chesskids Trainers are given 6 weeks in schools to introduce the basic concepts, rules and workings of the game of chess during a mathematics or Life Orientation class. All Learners are required to complete the course and write the Chesskids Level 1 exam. With the successful completion of the exam Learners receive a Chesskids Level 1 certificate at a formal graduation ceremony.
